While Westerners might associate mass religious gatherings with revival or repentance, this one is distinctively forward-looking. Attendees don’t just pray for the future; they celebrate specific, measurable progress from the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rwanda\u2019s Prime Minister, Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, attended and delivered a message from President Paul Kagame. But his speech wasn’t a typical political address. He commended faith leaders for their role in uniting communities, especially survivors of the genocide and perpetrators now living side by side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He then turned to a practical, unexpected issue: he urged pastors to help fight the scourge of illicit alcohol, locally known as “ibyuma.” His reasoning was straightforward; broken families undermine national development, no matter how many roads or hospitals you build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
