Ahead of the peloton’s arrival in the capital, the Prime Minister of Rwanda and the Minister of Sports walked together where crowds had gathered for the finale.

And in a moment that quickly caught attention, the Minister of Sports paused mid-walk to pick up a piece of litter from the roadside before continuing alongside the Prime Minister. The small gesture, witnessed by fans lining the route, became one of the day’s most talked-about moments, praised by many as a visible show of civic responsibility during one of Rwanda’s biggest sporting events.

Meanwhile… in Nyamirambo

It was the kind of moment that starts with, “Bro… imagine if we just…”

As Tour du Rwanda excitement buzzed through Nyamirambo, three young men reportedly spotted a parked MTN aircraft near the festivities. First came the selfies. Then the “let’s just check inside.” And before long, the trio had apparently climbed into the plane, pressing buttons with the confidence of men who had watched at least three aviation TikToks.

Witnesses say the situation escalated quickly, with some joking that the young men were preparing for a spontaneous trip to Goma. Unfortunately for them, aviation dreams require more than confidence and good vibes. Authorities intervened, and the would-be pilots were escorted away before any imaginary boarding announcements could be made.

It was a classic case of intrusive thoughts winning, briefly.
Now back to the grand finale of tour du Rwanda, participated by the best of the best was won by Eritrea’s Henok Mulubrhan, who powered through the uphill sprint finish to close the race in emphatic style.
